Toyota GT 86 hits the Fuji Speedway
Yesterday we had the first photos of the production version of the FT-86 – the Toyota GT 86 – and today we get the first video. Yesterday we had the first look at the production version of the Toyota FT-86 Concept and learnt it will in fact be the GT 86, but only in Europe. In Japan it will be just the Toyota 86 and in North America it loses its 86 tag completely to be the Scion F-RS.
The Hennessey Venom GT hit its top speed of 270.49 mph last week at the Kennedy Space Center, edging out the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport's previous 269.86 mph record. Hennessey and Bugatti have been battling for the top spot of "fastest production car in the world," and this time America came out on top. Hennessey attempted a record run in 2013, reaching a top speed of 265.7 mph before running out of room on the 2.9-mile-long runway at the Naval Air Station in California.

Maserati are on a mission to revive sales for the marque after years of being just an afterthought for car buyers fancying something interesting and Italian. And it seems to be working. The new Maserati Ghibli (and the Quattroporte) are starting to appeal to car buyers in the UK and Europe so much that sales so far in 2014 are up by 420 per cent on 2013, and although the actual numbers aren’t massive, the progress certainly is.
